PRACTICAL GUIDE
Compare supplier quotes when MOQs differ
Start with the same buying question
A unit price is not a complete quote. Compare one product, equivalent specifications, one currency and freight to the same location. If a supplier has not quoted a fee, ask first; a blank is not zero.
The calculation
order units = ceil(max(required units, MOQ) / pack size) × pack size known cost = order units × unit price + freight + setup unit cost = known cost / order units
For 300 required units, a quote at $2.10 with MOQ 500 and pack size 100 requires 500 units. With $250 freight and $50 setup, known cash outlay is $1,350. Another quote at $2.45 with MOQ 200, pack size 50, $90 freight and no setup requires 300 units and $825. The lower unit price needs more cash and leaves 200 extra units.
Ask for the missing terms
Record quote validity, production and shipping time separately, quality requirements, payment schedule and the named place for the agreed shipping terms. The RFQ export prompts these questions; it does not send them or create a supplier agreement.
What this comparison excludes
Tax, duty, insurance, inspection and other unquoted costs are excluded. Currency conversion is not provided. This is arithmetic from your inputs, not a customs estimate or supplier recommendation. Do not compare quotes with incompatible freight scope.
Beyond the spreadsheet
The useful next step is a repeatable quote round and approval history. A marketplace would additionally require real suppliers, verified buyer demand and an agreed transaction process. None of those is implied by this calculator.
